Really enjoy this book! I like the author's approach of encouraging you to come up with your own list. While it's great to hear about other people's dreams and ideas, having your own is even better. (Although I will admit that her's is pretty wonderful and I'm taking notes for some things that are one mine.) I will be following her blog while on my adventures of my own list.
This book is not your typical traveler's guide. It actually gives you the best tips to conquer your traveling fears and to motivate you to explore all the beautiful things the world has to offer!The author shows her passion for traveling around the world and how her experiences have changed her life and have made her so happy.It is inspiring specially because I have always been so afraid to travel to the Middle East and Annette provides the perfect tips to conquer your fears and to research your options to travel safe and sound.If you are a dreamer and don't know how to make your traveling dreams come true, this book is just For you!
The book title was enough to tempt me. My own bucket list is much shorter and #1 is in the works for the summer of 2018: 27-day Alaska Adventure with the Green Tortoise bus company.Of the trips in the book, I would like to visit Petra, Greece (I saw Athens and one Greek island while cruising many years ago), and Barcelona (didn’t make it there on my 30-day backpacking through Spain in 2017). I’ve been to Nassau and Bimini but have never seen the swimming pigs of Exhuma. Although I have no desire to visit many of these places reading travel narratives is a hobby. The elephant sanctuary, monastery perched on a cliff top, temples, and small villages appeal to me more than big tourist traps and the book definitely hits many off-the-beaten-tracks locales.The practical information is excellent. How to get there with suggestions and approximate prices; where to stay; where to eat; what to wear (modest clothing in certain cultures or religious venues); electricity voltage and plugs; currency, and lots of guidance. This certainly provides a cushion of comfort for striking out into the unknown.The well-written narrative is accompanied by many super colored photos. This will appeal to adventurous travelers —even the armchair kind.
This is a beautifully written book that definitely makes you want to travel! It is filled with enticing descriptions of exotic destinations--my favorite was the mouth-watering section on learning to cook Spanish specialties, like paella, in Barcelona-as well as helpful travel tips (who would have considered the importance of wearing a sports bra while on safari in Africa?) Through it all, the warm and engaging personality of the author shines through. I sincerely hope this book is the first of many from her. I highly recommend it!
I was so excited when I got my copy of Bucket List Adventures by Annette White! I had been reading her blog BucketlistJourney.net for years and knew it would be as amazing as she is. What I didn't realize is how extensive the book and her knowledge is about how to make travel possible. She goes into extensive details about how to make it a priority in your life. I am a fan!
Some of these "adventures" were more like resorts. And many were well outside of my budget. I enjoyed some of the descriptions, but I don't know most of these would be on anyone's bucket list.
What a great story, both of the author overcoming her anxieties about travel, as well as the 10 individual journeys she shares with us. Her travel tips are also quite helpful, having been gleaned from her constant travels around the world.
I just finished this book and it is fantastic! A MUST READ for anyone who enjoys traveling, aspires to travel more or wants to live vicariously through someone who travels for a living. Bucket List Adventure is not your typical travel book. It is Annette Slowik White opening her heart and soul to reveal her personal journey to overcoming her anxieties, told in a fashion that will inspire and motivate every person who reads her story. It is also a great travel guide with very simple and practical tips on how to travel effortlessly, even into the most remote parts of the world. Job well done Annette Slowik White! I am anxiously awaiting your second book release!I forgot to mention the pictures! Oh the pictures!!!!
